Graham Nicholls is the owner and manager of Focussed Outcomes cc – a South African company.   His expertise is in labour law, advising companies (corporate and small) on labour legislation but also offering services in dispute resolution (arbitration, negotiation, mediation, facilitation); he frequently acts as an independent, unbiased arbitrator in disciplinary enquiries for different companies as well as offering training in the practical and theoretical related practices. He also carries out internal investigations relating to all forms of misconduct.

He offers further training in leadership, management skills and communication – particularly presentations where he assists corporate and individual clients to prepare both oral and visual presentations.

At an individual level, Graham offers both mentoring and coaching (also known as life coaching) assisting one to verbalise and implement SMART goals.

Graham has worked in a variety of fields requiring an ability to investigate and understand there are always two sides to a story: developing skills including observation, recording and reporting in an impartial manner along with an attention to detail.

Those fields included a semi-auditing role with the then Rhodesia Railways; a fourteen year stint in the British South Africa Police and Zimbabwe Republic Police (resigning as Officer in Charge, Inyanga); national manager of a Zimbabwe company based in Harare; fourteen years as the logistics manager with a South African packaging company, responsible for the entire supply chain including production planning; and until January 2012 the general manager, Legal and Risk, Middle East and Africa with a global IT company.

In addition to dealing with labour/workplace law, business continuity, compliance issues, occupational health and safety, he was also the founding chairman of that company’s Employment Equity and Skills Development Forum.

In addition to an MBA (Wales) and other qualifications, Graham holds a postgraduate diploma in Labour Law from the University of Johannesburg (and one in contract drafting and interpretation)(both NQF7).  He has been involved in labour law for many years in his working environment. In 2011 he received an Advanced certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution (NQF7) from the University of Pretoria.

Graham is also a member of Toastmasters International, in particular District 74 comprising nine Southern African countries.  He has held a number of leadership positions, including area and division governors and the District’s Chairman of the Toastmasters Leadership Institute – the district’s training arm.  During Graham’s years with the association he has won a number of leadership awards, including area governor of the year.

He enjoys dispute resolution, public speaking, training, coaching and mentoring.  He is married to Anne.
